Destination: Whistler-Blackcomb Mtn, BC
Best deal found: Was able to stay slopeside on Blackcomb Mtn, which in my opinion is the better of the two, with a huge discount by using Marriott points. The hotel is a Marriott-Residence Inn and is a wonderful lodge to stay at!

Destination: Thailand/Myanmar
Best deal found:  In Myanmar I found an original Louis Vuitton purse for $24 and an original Coach purse for $25. GREAT deals!

Destination: Naples, IT
Best deal found:  Picture is of children (of U.S. military parents) playing soccer in October 2008 in the center of a volcano just outside Naples. The green grass and lovely trees are quite a contrast to what I called the “belly of the beast” crater of Mt. Vesuvius. Sorry, we didn’t find any great deals this time.

Destination: Sarasota, Fla.
Best deal found:
My husband and I drove nine hours to Sarasota, Fla. We don’t mind driving and it was cheaper than flying there and renting a car for five days. We found a small hotel on the beach for $100 per night. This photo was taken on New Years Day, 2009 at Siesta Key Beach near Sarasota. It is the largest beach I have ever seen. Sarasota is very pretty and we plan to visit again.

Destination: St Maarten
Best deal found: This looked like a good deal! I have wanted to try a Cuban cigar for years. However, I quit smoking Sept ’08 and had to pass on the deal. Actually the cruise was 419 per person before tax and fees for 7 nights in the eastern Caribbean with 3 ports.

Destination: Key West, FL
Best deal found: Private aviation ramp in Jackson Hole. You can see Dick Cheney’s 757 in the background. The ramp is covered in ice and the Grand Tetons in the background.

Destination: Virginia Highlands Festival, Atlanta
Best deal found:  Well, this was a local “trip”. But great fun at the Virginia Highlands Festival including watching a free concert by Drivin’ and Cryin’. That’s us in the reflection of another guy’s sunglasses!

Destination: Hawaii
Best deal found: Check for the right times to go. I went 3 times in a year and a half…once round trip out of the Twin Cities for 400 bucks round trip! You can do Hawaii cheap if you just do some digging. We found a 75 dollar a night mom and pop hotel outside Kona on the big island for 75 bucks a night! Right on the ocean. Could walk out our lani and look down and see the fish swimming in the water. Free continental breakfast in the morning poolside. Only had about 12 rooms and could walk into town! If you plan it right there are tons of cheap or free places to go and to eat! I could go on and on about our cheap ways to see the big island and Oahu!

Destination: South Haven, MI
Best deal found: It’s only 2 hr drive from my home–to the Lake Michigan shore. The wind, the birds, the sound of the waves, a cup of McDonald’ coffee…and all afternoon to sit and enjoy one of America’s Red, White and Blue sites. Joy

Destination: Savannah, Georgia
Best deal found: We were fortunate enough to go with a family who had family there. Our hotel was free and we even got free tickets to the opera. Although I got sick during the first 10 minutes and missed the entire thing. This is a picture of us at an awesome little restaurant called Lucky House. I know we were lucky, but other than airfare, our entire trip cost $650 for BOTH of us. This included site seeing, food, lodging, and souvenirs.
