JetBlue Caves
JetBlue will begin to charge customers checking a piece of luggage on new bookings, starting immediately. Those with existing reservations will still get one free checked bag. Fare structures have also changed…
Travelers will choose from three types of airfare classes:

  • Blue: The least expensive fares do not offer a checked bag allowance. One checked bag will cost $20 one-way during online check-in or at a JetBlue kiosk. The fee will rise to $25 for bags checked at the airport. Fees will be reduced for a second checked bag: $35 from $50. Also, change fees will be reduced to $70-$135 (was $75-$150).
  • Blue Plus: The next highest fare level (about $15 higher each way) which includes one free checked bag, more frequent flier points and lower fees if passengers want to make changes to the reservation. Itinerary change fees will be reduced to $60-$120 (was $75-$150).
  • Blue Flex: The highest airfare level (about $100 higher than Blue rates) includes two free checked bags, no-fee schedule changes and fully refundable if canceled.

Free for Fourth Graders
Starting September 2015, every fourth grader in the United States and their family will be able to enter all national parks for free for an entire year as part of the ‘Every Kid in a Park’ initiative. The program is designed to get more kids connected to nature and disconnected from electronic media. According to park statistics, if children are not introduced to camping and local, state or national parks by 11 years old, many will not be park users or campers.
There are other opportunities to enter National Parks for free. The National Park Service offers several free entrance days in the National Parks, and teenagers younger than 16 years old can access the parks for free. There is a fee for adults accompanying them and for the family car. An annual nationwide family vehicle pass is $80. The annual pass is free for U.S. military members and dependents in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and also, Reserve and National Guard members. Learn more about park pass options and other discounts.
The National Park Service offers the Junior Ranger Program, designed for children ages 5-13, an activity based program conducted in almost all parks.
The National Park Service was created by an act of congress and approved by President Woodrow Wilson to make the bureau responsible for the Interior Department’s National Parks and Monuments.
