No Rooms Available
It doesn’t happen very often, but the hotel you need to be at or simply want to stay at is sold-out! Don’t give up.
A new site alerts you when rooms at a sold-out property open up — and the service is free.
Open Hotel Alert will either text or email you as soon as a room becomes available for your desired location and date. Next, click the link provided to reserve the room at, the site’s affiliate partner.
Is there a major convention in your destination city and there’s no room in the inn?  An alert can be set up for multiple hotels.
Another scenario: Let’s say you had to book a pricey suite, but prefer a standard room. Open Hotel Alert will also notify you when your desired choice of room type opens. One more way to use the site is to get a notification on available rooms when you’re wanting to redeem hotel points but your favorite resort is sold out.
The site has access to over 1 million properties.

It’s Passport Awareness Month
Is it time to renew that passport? Or maybe you’re getting ready to apply for a new passport?
Don’t let your passport application get held up for something as silly as a bad photo.
The U.S. State Department in 2015 received more than 200,000 unacceptable photos due to the portrait being too dark, too bright, shadowy, blurry, incorrect size, too close, too far away or printed on low-quality paper.
A proposed rule by the State Department (no official date has been announced) will soon reject photos of persons wearing eyeglasses. Oh, and don’t smile too big for the birdy. The State Department says yes, you can smile but it must be a natural, unexaggerated smile.
Follow the State Department guidelines to have a picture perfect passport.
Visit the State Department for info on all passport topics, including how to renew and get a new passport — and passport FAQs

The least expensive fees are charged when these options are purchased during the ticket booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.
