Destination: Slippery Rock, PA
About this photo: In 2009 I went to the Pennsic Wars put on by the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval reenactment group. A truly wonderful event with over 11,000 people all in period clothes for 2 weeks. Crafts, merchants, great theme events and entertainers and huge battles between kingdoms. The photo is the great gate battle of 2009.
Best deal found: Entry is $144 for a week. Everything is free once inside except food and merchant booths. Entertainment, parties, concerts and almost all scheduled classes are free. Tips will cost you though, these people really go all out and you need to thank them.

Destination: Lone Pine, CA
About this photo: Lone Pine, CA is where many B westerns were made years ago (with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, and others). They still film movies and commericals there. It’s on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Alabama Hills are in front of the mountains. The scenery is just spectacular. This photo is of Movie Road heading toward the Alabama Hills and Sierra Nevadas.
Best deal found: After we left Lone Pine we went to Laughlin, Nevada and stayed at the Golden Nugget for $26.00 a night. The rooms there are very nice.
