Mint Mobile is celebrating Black Friday by offering two great deals: three free months of cell phone service with any plan or six free months of cell phone service when you buy a new phone.

In this article, I’ll take a close look at the details of the two deals. I’ll also explain how you can sign up for Mint Mobile’s Black Friday sale.

Get Three Months Free When You Buy Any Three-Month Plan

Black Friday is right around the corner. In addition to getting great deals on gifts and essentials, you’ll also likely be able to find ways to save on regular expenses. Case in point: your phone bill.

Mint Mobile was one of the first phone service providers this year to announce its Black Friday sale, and lucky for us, it’s available through January 15, 2023.

Here’s what you need to know about the first deal: Mint Mobile offers four different prepaid plans. When you sign up for service, you prepay for the first three months. With Mint Mobile’s Black Friday sale, new customers will get three months of service for free when they buy any three-month plan.

Here are the three-month plans available with the Black Friday sale price:

  • 4GB high-speed data monthly: $45 for six months of service
  • 10GB high-speed data monthly: $60 for six months of service
  • 15GB high-speed data monthly: $75 for six months of service
  • 35GB of high-speed data monthly: $90 for six months of service

All of Mint Mobile’s plans include unlimited talk, text and unlimited data at 2G speeds. So even when you hit your monthly data limit, you won’t have to wait until the next month for more: You’ll simply experience slower speeds. All plans include Wi-Fi calling and texting, free mobile hotspot data, free calling to Mexico and Canada and a free SIM card.

To get access to this deal, visit Mint Mobile’s website and click “View Plans.” Then you can choose any plan and add it to your shopping cart. For more details on how to sign up for Mint Mobile service, check out our full review here.

Get Six Months Free When You Buy Any Six-Month Plan Plus a New Phone

Mint Mobile is also offering six months of free service when you buy any six-month plan. But to get this deal, you’ll have to buy an eligible device.

Here are the six-month plans available with the Black Friday sale price:

  • 4 GB high-speed data monthly: $90 for 12 months of service
  • 10 GB high-speed data monthly: $120 for 12 months of service
  • 15 GB high-speed data monthly: $150 for 12 months of service
  • 35 GB high-speed data monthly: $180 for 12 months of service

These plans are the same as Mint Mobile’s three-month plans, which means you’ll still get unlimited talk, text and data at 2G speeds. They also include Wi-Fi calling and texting, mobile hotspot data, free calling to Mexico and Canada and a free SIM card.

However, you do have to purchase an eligible device to get this deal. As of November 2022, there are 15 eligible devices to choose from with options ranging from $$389-$1189 (or $33-$100 per month paid over 12 months). Eligible devices included the Apple iPhone 14 Plus, Google Pixel 7 Pro, ONePlus Nord N20, Samsung Galaxy S21 5G and more. You can check out the full selection of eligible devices here.

This deal is also available through January 15, 2023. It’s available only to new customers who are porting in their old numbers. To take advantage of this deal, visit Mint Mobile’s website and begin by choosing a new device.

Mint Mobile: A Reliable, Affordable MVNO

Mint Mobile is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that runs on T-Mobile’s towers. It provides access to the same service and 5G network (on capable devices) for lower prices than T-Mobile.

You’ll have to check Mint Mobile’s coverage map to see if you’ll have service in your area. If you’re covered, you’ll likely experience some of the fastest download speeds available via T-Mobile’s network.

Mint Mobile’s plan prices make it one of several really aggressive inexpensive discounters in the cell phone space according to money expert Clark Howard. Mint Mobile has won several awards on Clark.com including:

I recently tried out Mint Mobile myself, and I had a great experience with service, data speeds and support. If you’re thinking about making the switch to Mint Mobile, be sure to read my full review here first.

Final Thoughts: Should You Switch?

If you’re wondering whether or not you should make the switch to Mint Mobile, here’s my recommendation: Verify your phone’s compatibility online, make sure you’ll have service in your area by checking Mint Mobile’s coverage map and then give it a try!

Mint Mobile offers access to T-Mobile’s excellent network via extremely affordable plans, especially those with unlimited data. Plus, with this exclusive early-access deal, you’ll be getting a great price for six months of service.

With these deals, the most affordable plan (4GB of high-speed data) works out to be $7.50 per month for 6-12 months of service. Mint Mobile’s Unlimited plan (35GB of high-speed data) works out to be $15 per month for the first 6-12 months.

Here’s Clark’s take on the MVNOs.

While Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile are trying to push rates up, all these discounters are being very aggressive on price. You have to decide if they’re good for you or not. But if they are, you’re going to save money each and every month and tons of money over the course of a year if you go with one of the deep discounters.

To get three months of free service, visit Mint Mobile’s website and select the plan of your choice. Again, just be sure to check your phone’s compatibility online first if you’re bringing your own phone and make sure you’ll have service in your area. If you’re interested in six months free with a six-month plan and a new device, start by checking out the eligible phones on Mint Mobile’s website here.
