Have you ever worried about what would happen to your dog, cat or other pets if you were unable to care for them in an emergency? Now there’s a simple way to overcome this fear that many pet owners have experienced.

If you have a “My Pet is Home Alone” tag on your keychain, it will let first responders know that your pets need care.

There are many key rings and wallet cards like this for sale on Amazon, but I decided to make one myself using a few items around the house: tape, scissors and a hole punch.

Take a look at the step-by-step process below!

Step 1: I created a simple template in Microsoft Paint for the two sides of the tag. One side says “My Pet is Home Alone” and the other lists emergency contacts.

Step 2: After putting the two sides of paper together with the print facing out, I laminated the tag by covering it with clear packaging tape.

Step 3: Next, I removed the excess tape with scissors and used a hole punch to create a hole so that the tag would go on my keychain.
