While Netflix recently increased subscription prices, Hulu is taking the opposite approach.

Hulu drops price after Netflix hike

The streaming service is offering the “Limited Commercials” plan for $5.99, down from $7.99, for new members for one year. This deal also starts with one free month so you end up saving about $30 for the year. (Check out more specifics on the deal at ClarkDeals.com.)

What is Hulu?

If you’ve never tried Hulu, it’s similar to Netflix. The service has full seasons of numerous hit shows like “Seinfeld,” “Shark Tank,” “Home Improvement” and more. Hulu, like Netflix, also produces original series like “The Handmaid’s Tale,” a show with multiple Emmy Awards.

You can choose from three plans:

  • Limited Commercials: $5.99/month for new customers (regularly $7.99/month) and first month free
  • No Commercials: $11.99/month and first month free
  • Hulu with Live TV: $39.99/month and first week free
