T-Mobile just announced the release of Magenta Max, a new data plan that promises to take advantage of the power of 5G.

The wireless provider, which completed its merger with Sprint early last year, has been touting 4G LTE and 5G capabilities for a while now.

In this article, I’ll explore what T-Mobile’s latest data plan is all about including the cost and features.

What Is Magenta Max?

Magenta Max is T-Mobile’s new plan that boasts “premium unlimited” data on the company’s 5G network. Magenta Max launches Wednesday, February 24, for consumers and small businesses. It replaces the carrier’s Magenta Plus plan.

While cell phone companies have touted plans with unlimited data for years now, T-Mobile is promising Magenta Max will provide the speed and capacity that a powerful 5G network is said to offer.

That means that data throttling due to network congestion could be a thing of the past. Here’s how T-Mobile put it in a press release: “Even if you use 200GB or more, you can’t be slowed down based on how much data you use.”

How Much Does Magenta Max Cost?

T-Mobile says the regular price of Magenta Max is $57 per month for three lines with autopay. Taxes and fees are included.

For a limited time, the plan is being offered for $47 per line per month for three lines with autopay.

T-Mobile has confirmed to Team Clark that a single line on Magenta Max will be $85 a month. That’s the same price as the Magenta Plus plan, which is going away.

T-Mobile is also upgrading its main Magenta plan. Here are the latest specs on both plans.

What’s Included in T-Mobile’s Magenta Max Data Plan?

T-Mobile’s Magenta Max plan offers some significant upgrades compared to what the network’s other plans have offered.

Here are some of the features of Magenta Max:

  • UHD (Ultra-High Definition) video streaming up to 4K resolution
  • Netflix on Us (a free Netflix subscription) on all Max plans
  • 40GB of high-speed hotspot data
  • Unlimited Gogo in-flight texting and Wi-Fi all flight long
  • Enhanced call blocking and caller ID (“Scam Shield Premium”)

How Much Does It Cost for Customers To Switch?

T-Mobile is currently running a “Zero Cost to Switch” deal, which targets Verizon and AT&T customers who may have recently gotten 5G phones.

The deal promises as much as $650 toward paying off your phone with your old carrier if you move to T-Mobile.

Final Thought

In addition to launching the new unlimited data plan, T-Mobile also increased the monthly data cap on its Magenta plan from 50GB to 100GB at no additional cost.

Before you switch, make sure you compare prices first. If T-Mobile’s signal is strong in your area, you can get unlimited talk, text and data with Mint Mobile for $30 a month. Compare your options in Team Clark’s comprehensive cell phone guide.
