Get off Google

To remove yourself** from the Google database, follow these steps:

1) Type your phone number (area code included) in the search field with dashes in between. For example, 555-123-4567. Then, click the “Google Search” button. It won’t work if you just hit “Return” or “Enter.”

2) When your information comes up, you will see a small telephone icon to the left of your name. Click on the phone.

3) Toward the bottom of the rendered page, you will see the sentence, “To have your…address information removed from the Google Phone Book, click here.” Click on that link.

4) On the next page, you will see several fields for information. Fill these in as directed. Make sure you enter your name exactly as it appears in the phone book or it may not work. Click Submit. The request should be processed in 48 hours, according to Google.

** Not everyone is listed in the database, so you may not get any information when you enter your number. If so, consider yourself lucky.
