When you’re looking for a new job, there are a variety of things to consider — including flexibility, work environment, job satisfaction, growth potential and more — depending on your situation.

Salary is most important factor for nearly 70% of job seekers

In general, there’s typically one significant factor that most people look for in any new job opportunity: more money — and for some, it’s the most important factor in making a career change.

In fact, according to the job and salary website Glassdoor, salary and compensation are the biggest considerations for 68% of job seekers.

And whether you’re looking for a job in your current industry or ready to try something completely new, doing some research on potential opportunities can help you decide the right path for your career.

So if you want to earn more money and get into a career with more growth potential, where do you start your search?

After analyzing salary reports from companies across several different industries,  Glassdoor recently released its third-annual ranking of the highest-paying opportunities in America right now.

And it may not come as a surprise that the list is dominated by technology-related jobs, as well as careers in health care and finance.

“With nearly half the list comprised of jobs in the tech and health care industries, this report reinforces that higher salaries are found in America’s fastest job-creating sectors, which require higher education and in-demand skill sets,” said Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor’s chief economist.
