Are you a Hulu + Live TV subscriber? If so, you’re soon to be enjoying some extra channels at no additional cost.

The live TV streaming service announced on May 4, 2023 that it plans to add three popular channels to its base subscription in the coming weeks.

Let’s take a look at these channel additions and see if it is enough to inspire you to cut the cord and ditch the cable company for good.

Hulu + Live TV Adds 3 New Channels

Hulu + Live TV will be adding the following channels to its base subscription:

  • Magnolia Network (beginning May 25, 2023)
  • PBS Kids (available soon)
  • Local PBS affiliates (available in more than 300 U.S. markets in the coming months)

“PBS, PBS Kids and Magnolia Network are among the most frequently requested channels by our subscribers,” said Reagan Feeney, senior vice president of live TV content programming and partnerships for Hulu. “We’re thrilled to add them to our core lineup that now includes more than 90 live channels.”

The Magnolia Network (formerly known as DIY Network) is the home of original content from Chip and Joanna Gaines of HGTV’s popular “Fixer Upper” series.

PBS Kids offers popular children’s series like “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” and “Wild Kratts.”

The addition of local PBS affiliates, which are available via antenna in many areas of the country, is a nice convenience addition as well. Hulu did not give an exact date for the PBS additions.

And more good news: These additions will not cause a price increase. The monthly service price remains $69.99.

More About Hulu + Live TV

When you see Hulu advertised, you may think of the video streaming service that has featured on-demand TV series and movies for years.

But what you may not know is that the company also has a live TV streaming service, called Hulu + Live TV, and it offers many of the most popular TV channels on the market.

The “plus” in the name means you’ll get both services for one price. So you’ll enjoy popular TV channels in addition to the aforementioned on-demand library from Hulu that includes popular original content like The Handmaid’s Tale.

In addition to the on-demand content from Hulu, you’ll also have access to more popular streaming options from Disney+ and ESPN+.

Practically speaking, you’re receiving all three streaming services included with The Disney Bundle along with your Hulu + Live TV subscription.

And unlike cable or satellite, this will come without cable box fees, a dish or a long-term commitment. You can cancel at any time.

Final Thoughts

Are you considering subscribing to Hulu + Live TV because of this news? Team Clark has a comprehensive streaming TV guide that may help you decide if this is the right fit for your household.

As Team Clark’s resident streaming TV expert, I already consider Hulu + Live TV one of the best overall choices for live TV streaming.

While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of my top choice, YouTube TV, it does have its advantages. Hulu + Live TV subscribers enjoy access to both Disney+, ESPN+ and the on-demand version of Hulu as part of their monthly subscription price.

And now, you also will get access to two great PBS channel options as well as the popular Magnolia Network.

If you’re a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, or have children in the home who enjoy PBS content, these additions may be enough to make Hulu + Live TV the right choice for your live TV streaming needs.

Are these channels enough to make you consider switching to Hulu + Live TV? If you’re an existing customer, does this make you more likely to stay subscribed? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the Clark.com community.
