If you’ve ever had problems with your USPS mail delivery, there’s a new program that could make your life a lot easier — and it won’t cost you a penny!
With Informed Delivery, you can see your mail before even walking to the mailbox.

Stolen, lost or hidden mail? This program is for you!
USPS already takes photos of letter-sized mail as it’s scanned at processing facilities, but now the postal service is sharing those photos with you.
Users who opt-in will receive daily emails with scans of mail that will be delivered that day.
Participation has been expanded to most ZIP codes in the U.S., and I began receiving scans of my mail the day after I signed up for Informed Delivery in March.
Why would anyone want this service? Here are a few possibilities:
- Know in advance about important mail
- Monitor incoming mail while traveling
- Confirm suspicions that someone is stealing your mail
- Make sure that no mail is missing or lost
- Guarantees everyone in the family sees the mail
It’s not uncommon for my mail carrier to arrive after 5 p.m., so this service is a great way for me to know what’s coming before 9 a.m., when the email is typically sent.
Users can expect to receive emails Monday through Saturday, federal holidays excluded.
