If you love to shop at big-box retailers, the final days of the year could offer one last savings opportunity that you don’t want to miss.
Now’s the time to check to see if any loyalty program rewards you’ve earned throughout the year are set to expire soon.

Costco members with a Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi, your cash back rewards certificate is set to expire at the end of the year. That means you have a matter of days to cash in on rewards you’ve earned.
At Clark.com, we want you to save as much money as you can at every turn and money expert Clark Howard agrees: “Don’t let that money die on you. This is found money,” he says.
How To Redeem Your Costco Credit Card Reward Certificate
According to Citi.com’s FAQ page, to redeem your Costco credit card reward certificate, you don’t have to print anything out. Just pull up the certificate in your Citi app on your phone or via email and show the cashier at checkout.

Costco isn’t the only retailer with rewards getting ready to go away. I’ve researched some other big-box retailers to let you know when their rewards expire.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club offers shoppers Cash Rewards and Cash Back Rewards. Here is what the retailer says about both products:
- Sam’s Club Cash Rewards: A benefit of the Plus membership, Cash Rewards do not expire. But note that $2,000 worth of Cash Rewards is the maximum that can be stored on your membership at any given time, according to Samsclub.com.
- Sam’s Club Cash Back Reward Cards: These rewards are earned from using your Sam’s Club Mastercard. “Unredeemed Cash Back Rewards will expire as of the date listed on the reward notification you will receive when the Cash Back Rewards are issued to your Sam’s Club membership,” it says on the retailer’s website.

Target
If you participate in the Target Circle loyalty program, your rewards do not expire as long as your account remains active. “Target Circle Earnings rewards will expire if you have not earned or redeemed any Target Circle Earnings rewards for one year,” it says on the retailer’s website.
Walmart
If you have a Capital One Walmart Rewards Card, you can redeem points for purchases made on Walmart.com. As long as you keep your account open, your rewards will never expire, according to Capital One.
