Each year when the calendar flips from February to March, many of us start to catch spring fever. This is the month that will usher in what many people name as their favorite season.
And along with those green shoots starting to emerge from the ground, there are areas of deals popping up for deal hunters, too!
Here Are the Best March Deals
Food
March has a few notable holidays and events that usually offer up the opportunity to get some discounted or free food.
Be on the lookout for edible deals around these times:
- March Madness – Begins March 14 and lasts through April 3
- National Pi Day – March 14 (3.14, get it?)
- St. Patrick’s Day – March 17
- Free Cone Day – March 21
Though Ben & Jerry’s started this sweet holiday, Dairy Queen’s celebration of Free Cone Day is also a big fan favorite that happens on March 21. We haven’t seen the details officially announced from DQ yet this year, though.
You’ll never miss another free food opportunity no matter what month you’re in when you sign up for the ClarkDeals.com newsletter.
Outdoor Furniture and Grills
Spring is just days away, but the deals are already rolling in on outdoor favorites. Now is the time to score a deep discount with early promotions before the prices go up.
You can start to look for pre-season sales at retailers such as The Home Depot and Lowe’s Home Improvement. Those deals will continue to heat up next month as both retailers launch their Spring Black Friday events in early April.
Meanwhile, in our research, we’ve noted historical patterns of heavy discounts on at least three popular models of patio swings during the month of March.
March also happens to be a great month to catch a price break on charcoal grills and gas grills as well as kamado-style ceramic grills.
Winter Clothing and More
Here’s another timely calendar play: As we head into spring, any winter clothing that’s still left on store racks is on extra-deep discount.
But it’s not just coats and outerwear that are on sale this month. Retailers are also helping you gear up for the warmer weather to come with sales on activewear, running shoes and the like.
Winter Sports Equipment
March marks the beginning of the end of the season for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. That means retailers are also looking to clear out their remaining supplies of snowshoes, ice skates, hand warmers, thermal socks and more.
You might also want to consider used winter sports gear for extra cost savings. REI has a used gear section, and stores such as Play It Again Sports offer pre-owned sporting equipment at a discount.
Select Airfare Deals
With school spring breaks underway around the country, March is shaping up to be a mini-sweet spot for deals.
Our in-house travel expert Clara Bosonetto says that you can reach Florida’s beaches or historic capitals like Boston or Washington D.C. at one-way rates from $19 to $26 (from Atlanta) with low fare carriers. Even airfare to New York City starts at just $26 before fees.
But note that you’ll often pay extra for picking your seats or checking a bag with these low fare carriers.
Meanwhile, if you’re thinking about going to Europe this year, Clara says now is a good time to book — provided you can delay your departure until the tail end of 2023.
“You’re going to be shocked at round-trip economy class rates in the range of $1,000 and more for travel now through October,” Clara notes.
“More reasonable rates from $550-$650 kick in for a very short departure window from November to mid-December. You might want to lock those winter ’23 deals now because it seems that prices will just keep pushing higher to reflect demand.”
Gardening Supplies
It’s time to start thinking about getting back out in the yard and garden. In addition to the home improvement stores, you’ll also want to check out online shopping sites like Snow Joe and Woot. Both offer daily deals that last for only 24 hours or until sold out. So when you see a great price on gardening supplies, you should pounce on it!
Vacuums & Small Kitchen Appliances
With the coming of spring comes the arrival of spring cleaning. Vacuums typically go on sale around this time. Stay updated with the latest vacuum deals at ClarkDeals.com.
In addition, keep an eye out for small kitchen appliances at a deep discount at the likes of Belk, Kohl’s and Macy’s.
Final Thoughts
March has long been known for its weather that comes in like a lion but leaves like a lamb. And true to its reputation, the forecast for deals this month is ferocious — if you know where to look!
