9 Things on Deep Discount in February

February may seem like a bleak month in the heart of winter, but it actually offers a lot of fresh opportunities for deal fanatics!

You may already know that this month is second only to November’s Black Friday weekend for TV deals. But February is also the time when winter clothing continues its downward price trend like so much snow falling.

Meanwhile, gardening supplies start popping up on the shelves of home improvement stores to remind us that spring is only a month away.

And don’t forget about leftovers from January white sales that are now on even deeper discounts than they were to begin with.

So if the long, cold and dark days are getting you down, just remember the famous words of Albert Camus: “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.” In honor of the famed philosopher, we’ll show you where to find the green shoots of savings!

Here Are the Best February Deals

TVs

With the Big Game coming up on Sunday, February 11, now is the time to steal a deal on a big-screen TV. Beginning last month during playoff season, the deals started popping up on screens of all sizes. And that continues unabated in the lead-up to the Super Bowl.

We’re keeping up with all the best deals on the most popular TV sizes right here.

One word of advice from money expert Clark Howard before you start shopping: Don’t get sucked into overpaying for a brand name when there are perfectly good off-brands for much cheaper.

“The reality is that you hurt yourself more if you pay more for a brand name TV,” Clark says. “You can often find TVs of the same size with similar features that are significantly different in price simply because of the brand. You’re best off going down on brand and up on screen size – or down on brand, keep the same screen size and keep more money in your pocket!”

Meanwhile, the absolute best deals are on ginormous 75- and 85-inch TVs. Clark says he’s seen 75-inch TVs as cheap as $499 in recent weeks. And as for 85-inch TVs, Sam’s Club recently had them for as low as $799.

“Wherever you look, TVs that are 2023 models are being cleared out at ridiculous prices,” he notes. “If you want to have that home theater kind of effect, you need to sit about 12 feet back from a 75-inch screen to make it work, [and now is the time] get it!”

Valentine’s Day

The holiday for sweethearts is almost upon us. Over at ClarkDeals.com, we’ve got you armed with everything you need to save money as you woo your loved one. We’ll be covering Valentine’s Day food deals leading up to the heart-shaped holiday (so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter for those!) as well as deals on gifts and flowers you can find right here. If you plan to buy flowers for your sweetie, don’t forget Clark’s tip to buy flowers early and deliver them yourself!

After the Wednesday, February 14 holiday passes, be on the lookout for clearance Valentine’s Day candy and decor as well as jewelry. Retailers are likely to have a lot of leftover jewelry on hand after the one-two punch of Christmas and Valentine’s Day.

Finally, don’t forget about doing something as simple but meaningful as handwriting a declaration of love. That’s likely to be appreciated by your sweetheart – even if you get the card at a dollar store. Aldi also has cute cards, according to ClarkDeals.com managing editor Charis Brown.

Presidents’ Day Sales

Presidents’ Day is observed on Monday, February 19. The holiday has long been associated with things like furniture and mattress sales. Department stores such as Macy’s tend to advertise low prices on mattresses this time of year as loss leaders to draw customers in for three-day holiday weekend shopping sprees.

In addition to mattresses, winter clothing keeps going down in price as we inch toward spring. We’ll have a full list of the best deals for the Presidents’ Day holiday right here.

Food

February has a few notable food holidays that usually offer up the opportunity to get some discounted or free food. Chief on the list this month is National Pizza Day on February 9.

Other February food holidays:

  • National Frozen Yogurt Day – February 6
  • National Bagels and Lox Day – February 9
  • National Margarita Day – February 22

Android Phones

Samsung announced its Galaxy S24 last month, which means older models of its phones are likely to start going on sale after the big unveiling. Unfortunately for iPhone people, you’ll have to wait for Apple’s autumn announcement about its latest devices for sales on older iPhone models.

Pre-Season and End-of-Season Lawn and Yard Sales

Consumer Reports notes that with spring coming, some retailers are rolling out pre-season sales on landscaping items.

In addition to The Home Depot and Lowe’s, you may also want to check Snow Joe. This company’s daily deals page is a resource for discounts on tools of all sorts.

The magazine also reports that we’ll see sales this time of year on end-of-season items such as snow blowers. At last check, Snow Joe was offering one of its electric snow blowers for 20% off.

Space Heaters

The same deal logic applies to space heaters: Retailers are looking to clear out space for spring items. So now is the time to score a deal while still having plenty of cold days and nights ahead during which to use your new space heater!

Cruise Deals

If you’re looking for some fun in the sun, hitting the high seas can be a great option for both you and your wallet. Over at ClarkDeals.com, we’re constantly updating new cruise deals! Some recent eye-popping prices have included the following:

  • 23-night Tahiti, Hawaii & South Pacific cruise from $1,398

Leap Year Day Deals

February 29 marks a once in every 4 years addition to this month’s savings calendar! Leap Day is sometimes celebrated as a day of traditions and folklore, but at ClarkDeals.com it means an extra day of deals and savings. Judging by precedent, we expect a wide range of retailers and restaurants to offer extra savings in honor of the day. Sign up for our newsletter to make sure you don’t miss out on any of them!

Final Thoughts

February may be the shortest month of the year, but it’s long on savings opportunities! Even though we’re still in winter, the push toward spring is starting, and that’s partly what creates the forward momentum around deals this time of year.
