Are you looking to add a new rewards credit card to your wallet?

The Wells Fargo AutographSM Card is running a limited-time welcome bonus offer that caught our attention.

And since it’s a no-annual-fee credit card that offers solid rewards on popular purchase categories, it could be a win both in the short and long term for perspective cardholders.

Let’s take a look at the new offer and see if the card is a fit for you.

Wells Fargo Offers Limited-Time Welcome Bonus

The latest offer from the Wells Fargo AutographSM Card: “For a limited time, earn 30,000 bonus points when you spend $1,500 in purchases in the first 3 months.”

With a redemption rate of $0.01 per bonus point, that sign-up bonus has a redemption value of $300. That rates among the best welcome offers from a credit card with no annual fee.

There are credit card welcome bonuses worth more than $500 available, but those usually are attached to cards that have significant annual fees. These higher bonuses typically also require a higher spending threshold than the $1,500 requirement for this offer from Wells Fargo.

Is the Wells Fargo Autograph Card a Good Long-Term Option?

Money expert Clark Howard loves a good welcome bonus to add extra cash to your wallet, but he doesn’t want you to make a long-term decision on a credit card for a short-term gain.

In other words, the signup bonus from a credit card should be the “cherry on top” for a card that you have evaluated to be a great fit for your wallet for other reasons.

And if you’re looking for a credit card that provides solid rewards in several popular spending categories, the Autograph card could be a long-term fit in your wallet.

Team Clark’s Anthony is an Autograph cardholder. I asked him why he enjoys using it.

“It is a fantastic card for very specific reasons,” Anthony said. “I enjoy using the card to pay my cell phone bill. In this category you get 3 points per dollar which is equivalent to 3% back and it comes with free cell phone protection. A win-win! I also enjoy using this card at restaurants and when taking the train from my home to New York City. Both categories come with 3x points per dollar. It is important to keep track of which spend categories that you frequently use to make sure you are getting the most rewards for your spend.”

Here are a couple of reasons why you, too, may want to consider it:

Wells Fargo does a nice job of covering all the bases with its rewards multiplier for this card.

You’ll get unlimited 3x points on each dollar spent in the following six categories:

  • Restaurants
  • Travel
  • Gas
  • Transit
  • Streaming services
  • Phone plans

For many consumers, this checks some pretty prominent boxes for the biggest pieces of their monthly budgets. All other spending is rewarded at 1x point per dollar spent.

You can redeem these points for statement credits, travel and more. Read more about your options here.

2. Cell Phone and Auto Rental Protections

This card is on the list of credit cards that offer cell phone protection.

This means you get up to $600 of cell phone protection against damage or theft when you pay your monthly cell phone bill with your Autograph card. The benefit is subject to a $25 deductible.

You’ll also get auto rental collision damage waiver coverage by paying for your rental with this credit card. Wells Fargo says this covers “theft, damage, valid loss-of-use charges imposed and substantiated by the rental company, administrative fees and reasonable and customary towing charges to the nearest qualified repair facility.”

Do you have the Autograph card in your wallet? If not, will this limited-time welcome offer entice you to give it a shot? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this rewards credit card in the Clark.com community.
