Recall alert: Wish-Bone salad dressing for undeclared potential allergens

A popular brand of salad dressing is being recalled because it contains undeclared milk and eggs, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced.

Pinnacle Foods Inc. decided to voluntarily recall Wish-Bone House Italian Salad Dressing sold in a 15 oz. bottle after a complaint from a retail customer, the agency said. Nationwide, 7,768 cases of the dressing have been distributed and are involved in the recall.

The dressing is safe to eat by those who aren’t allergic to milk or eggs, but “people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk or egg may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product,” the FDA said in a press release.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product, the agency said. The dressing was produced on March 19, 2018. The “Best If Used By” date on the label is Jan 13 19.

Customers who have bought the recalled dressing can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Those with questions are encouraged to contact Pinnacle Foods at 1-888-299-7646 between the hours of  9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
