Americans apparently don’t feel too spirited about Spirit Airlines.
The carrier had the highest rate of complaints submitted to the U.S. Department of Transportation in a report issued Tuesday.

The worst airline in America
Spirit had 937 gripes filed by peeved passengers, a complaint rate of 11.2 per 100,000 passengers.
This is the first year Spirit’s complaint rate has been included in the transportation department’s rankings.
Compare that to Southwest Airlines, earning rights to flaunt its heart logo with the lowest complaint rate of 0.52 per 100,000 passengers.
Frontier Airlines is the second least popular airline.
Complaints against that carrier have tripled in the past year.
Frontier went from 3 grievances per 100,000 passengers in the first part of last year to 10 grievances per 100,000 passengers this year.
