Are you in the market for a new cash back credit card?

One of money expert Clark Howard’s favorite credit cards has a couple of limited-time bonus offers that could make it worth considering.

The card_name, which he has recommended for years, is giving new cardholders a chance to earn a welcome bonus and also has increased the cash back opportunity on select travel purchases.

This is all on top of the unlimited 2% cash back that can be earned on everyday purchases with this no-annual-fee card!

2 New Limited-Time Offers for Citi Double Cash® Card

Citi recently announced that it will have two new, limited-time bonus opportunities for Double Cash applicants.

If you don’t already have this credit card, you might want to consider the merits of signing up during these promotions.

New Welcome Offer

Earn $200 cash back after you spend $1,500 on purchases in the first 6 months of account opening.

This bonus offer will be fulfilled as 20,000 ThankYou® Points, which can be redeemed for $200 cash back.

This is a solid welcome bonus offer for a card that does not have an annual fee. You will find some cards that offer welcome bonuses worth more than $500, but those are usually travel credit cards with annual fees that can approach $700.

Previously, one of the critiques of the Double Cash card was the lack of a welcome bonus. It seems Citi has heard this complaint and sought to remedy it with this offer.

Bonus Cash Back for Select Travel Purchases

For a limited time, earn 5% total cash back on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked on Citi Travel portal through 12/31/24.

This is awarded as an additional 3% back on top of the 2% you can earn with the card.

This is a nice perk if you’re willing to use Citi’s portal to book your travel. This is similar to a strategy used by rival Chase on some of its credit cards, such as the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited. Both of those cards offer 5% back for booking travel through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards portal, as well.

Why the Citi Double Cash® Card Might Be a Good Choice for Your Wallet

Clark keeps the card_name in his wallet in spite of some recent complaints about Citi’s paperless billing policy.

If you read Clark’s seven rules for using credit cards, you’ll see that he wants you to keep a rewards card that pays you 2% cash back on all your spending with no annual fees. This is one of several cards that can accomplish this.

And there’s a reason that Clark has recommended this card for so long: It’s simple and straightforward.

You get 1% back on everything you purchase when you pay, and then you receive an additional 1% back as you pay for the purchases. There are no spending category requirements and no limits to the amount of rewards you can earn.

The unlimited 2% cash back you can earn on your everyday purchases is great. And you don’t have to worry about an annual fee eating up your rewards, either.

Do you already have the Citi Double Cash® Card? If not, will these offers entice you to add it to your wallet? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the Clark.com community.
