We’re just days away from Halloween and if you haven’t gotten your pumpkins yet…what are you waiting for?!?

The price of seasonal decorative produce probably isn’t one of those things you give a lot of thought to when comparison shopping.

But the difference in how much pumpkin you can get at what price as you go from store to store can be downright scary!

Aldi has the best prices on huge pumpkins

If you live in an area with a lot of young families, chances are you see pop-up roadside pumpkin patches at local churches or community meeting centers.

Let me tell you from experience, these places are great for a photo op with the kids dressed in their autumn clothes, but the prices are usually just short of outrageous.

It’s not uncommon to pay up to $15 for a medium pumpkin and $20 or more for a large pumpkin at some local pumpkin patches!

If you care about your wallet, the best alternative we’ve found so far is Aldi.

This past weekend, the discount grocer was selling pumpkins for $2.29, regardless of size or weight.

I got three large pumpkins — each weighing more than 20 pounds — for a total of $6.87!

How do you like them pumpkins?!

I also happened to be in a few other stores this weekend and noticed their prices.

Target had similarly sized pumpkins on display in a cute box. But the $4.99 price tag for a single pumpkin wasn’t cute at all compared to my Aldi deal:

And shopping at Southeast regional grocery chain Publix may be a pleasure, as their ad tag line says, but the prices on pumpkins are anything but…

Don’t forget Aldi for other seasonal Halloween items, too!

While we’re on the topic of Halloween merchandise, you should know that Aldi has a lot of other seasonal stock that rotates in and out of the store.

A real favorite of mine this time of year are the paper towels with holiday prints for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Right now, you can get one roll of Halloween-themed 128 2-ply sheets (53.78 sq. ft.) for just 99 cents.

Now, these probably aren’t the kind of paper towels you’d want to use everyday, but for they’re great for cleaning up those things that go bump in the night and make a mess at your Halloween party.

The kids love them, they’re relatively easy on the wallet and they’re really festive, too!
