MetroPCS is dropping the PCS, adding T-Mobile to its name and launching new cell phone plans!
Metro by T-Mobile, a prepaid wireless brand, will debut two new unlimited data plans in October, including a tier that comes with Amazon Prime.
It will also be the first and only wireless brand to include a Google One subscription for cloud storage and mobile backup.
In a news release, Metro by T-Mobile said it covers 323 million people on T-Mobile’s network and offers a wide variety of Android and iOS smartphones at multiple price points.
Here’s how the company explains the difference between T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile’s service:
When the network gets busy in a particular place, Metro by T-Mobile customers may notice a difference in speed compared to T-Mobile customers, but otherwise, they get the same T-Mobile network.
Beginning in October, customers can choose from two new unlimited data plans that are featured in the chart below. The most expensive plan starts at $60 for a single line and includes:
T-Mobile U.S. CEO John Legere posted a video blog to break the news about Metro, which T-Mobile acquired in 2013. He says a lot of people suffer from outdated perceptions about prepaid brands.
“The number of Metro customers has doubled in the past five years for a reason… it is hands-down the best value and best experience in the prepaid category,” said Legere. “But that’s not enough for us! It drives me crazy that literally millions of hard-working people are struggling to get by yet feel stuck with AT&T and Verizon because they think prepaid wireless is subpar. That’s outdated thinking! Metro by T-Mobile customers aren’t making a compromise, they’re REFUSING to make a compromise.”
If you’re an existing Metro customer, you’ll have the choice of staying with your current plan or switching to one of the new plans starting in October. Get the details here.
