If you’re a Vidgo TV subscriber, your monthly bill is likely going up.
The live TV streaming service recently announced a new pricing structure for two of its most popular channel packages.
The cheapest monthly subscription price is now $69.99, which matches the basic offering from Hulu + Live TV. Top competitor YouTube TV recently increased its monthly subscription to $73 per month. So all three streaming services are now in the $70 a month range.
In other words, the pricing advantage Vidgo TV enjoyed over two of Team Clark’s top live TV streaming choices is now gone.
In this article, we’ll walk through what you need to know about the new Vidgo TV pricing.
For the second time in 2023, Vidgo TV has raised the price on its two cheapest English language live TV streaming packages.
Vidgo Plus, which is the service’s base package, is now $69.99 per month. That’s a $5 monthly increase from the price that was introduced in February. Prior to the February price increase, Vidgo Plus was just $59.99 per month.
Vidgo Premium also experienced a price increase, jumping from $79.99 to $84.99.
The prices for Vidgo’s Spanish language subscription (Vidgo Mas) and the English + Spanish combination package (Vidgo Ultimate) remain unchanged.
Here’s a look at the new pricing structure:
Live TV Streaming Package | Previous Pricing | New Pricing Effective April 2023 |
Vidgo Plus | $64.99 | $69.99 |
Vidgo Premium | $79.99 | $84.99 |
Vidgo Mas (Spanish language package) | $39.99 | $39.99 |
Vidgo Ultimate (Premium + Mas packages) | $99.99 | $99.99 |
If you were considering signing up for Vidgo TV, this price increase on its basic package makes it a hard sell.
YouTube TV, which is Team Clark’s top choice for best live TV streaming service, charges $73 per month for its service which includes unlimited DVR storage and a more complete menu of local channels. So, after this latest price hike, you need just an extra $3 per month to get YouTube TV instead of Vidgo TV.
However, it is worth noting that Vidgo TV does a really nice job with its sports channel menu.
For example, Vidgo TV is now the only streaming service that offers MLB Network and NHL Network in its base package after YouTube TV recently dropped the former. So there may be some sports fans out there who prefer it to the alternatives on the market.
I subscribed to Vidgo in 2022 to test things out for Team Clark. In my review, I detailed some of the pros and cons of picking this service over some of the more well-known options like YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.
Ultimately, I believe that Vidgo’s shortcomings in the DVR storage department are enough for most people to seek an alternative. It was disappointing that this wasn’t addressed as part of the price increase as budget services like Philo and Frndly TV seem to have the DVR storage situation figured out at a much lower price point.
Will you subscribe to Vidgo TV after this price increase? We’d love to hear about your experiences with the service in the Clark.com community.
