Target has just announced a new line of more than 70 everyday products that are priced to compete with discount stores like Dollar Tree and Aldi.

Debuting in stores and online starting October 14, Smartly is Target’s new essentials and personal care brand that will feature dozens of items for shoppers on a tight budget.

The product line will include household cleaners, body lotion, paper plates and razor blades — with most items less than $2 each.

Target says Smartly will offer the affordability of bulk shopping without buying in bulk. Products will be sold as single items and in small multi-packs, like four rolls of toilet paper for just $0.99.

The retailer is trying to appeal to budget-conscious shoppers and those who live in small spaces without a lot of storage.

“Over the past few years, Target has launched more than 20 owned and exclusive brands across our multi-category assortment. The introduction of Smartly is another example of how we are listening to consumers and bringing them solutions to make their lives easier,” said Mark Tritton, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Target. “Smartly offers incredible value, looks great and most importantly, gets the job done. It broadens our assortment to give guests even more options to find the product that’s right for them, regardless of their budget.”

Prices for Smartly products will range from $0.59 to $11.99. Target says the new items cost approximately 70% less than similar products from the big national brands.
