Report: Amazon readying expanded private label brand Bloom Street

Last week we got news that Amazon has unconfirmed plans to open convenience stores in Seattle that would allow Prime members to get groceries.

Now we’re learning that Amazon may have even bigger designs to enter the supermarket industry.

Bloom Street private label likely on tap

According to Barron’s, financial analyst firm Pacific Crest Securities notes that Amazon seems to be making a play to get deeper into privatesupermarket goods.

The online retailer is expanding its existing partnership with TreeHouse Foods–a top maker of privategoods for the grocery industry–to create a new Amazon private label called Bloom Street.

Amazon already has some private label goods marketed under the Happy Belly (nuts and coffee) and Mama Bear (baby care) labels.

According to Pacific Crest, the Bloom Street label is expected to include snacks, cereal, energy drinks, supplements, razors, cleaning supplies and air fresheners.

Two competitors in the market space that are likely to take a hit if Bloom Street becomes a reality are Clorox and Church & Dwight. The former makes household cleaners and kitchen supplies, while the latter is best known for its Arm & Hammer baking soda brand.
