Better than LaCroix? Aldi and Kroger sparkling water put to the test!

Many people are ditching sugary sodas and beverages for LaCroix, a carbonated water that has no calories, no sodium and no artificial flavors.

Folks who can’t seem to get enough of LaCroix, which comes in varieties like Pamplemousse (Grapefruit), Coconut and Key Lime, love it because there are only two ingredients: carbonated water and natural flavors.

Although LaCroix may be healthier than Coke or Pepsi, it can be just as expensive!

Sparkling water taste test: LaCroix vs. Aldi vs. Kroger

Kroger and Aldi are two major supermarket chains that sell their own sparkling waters for about half the price of LaCroix, according to a price comparison we conducted in July 2018:

Which brand of sparkling water is best?

Lori and Sue from Team Clark’s Consumer Action Center helped us out with a little taste test. We wanted to know if Lori could tell the difference between LaCroix and generic sparkling waters from Aldi and Kroger.

Lori said the sparkling water from LaCroix had an aftertaste and Aldi’s was less carbonated. See her favorite in the video below…

If you must have LaCroix, stock up when it’s on sale or use coupons. Otherwise, you may find that the cheaper brands of sparkling water featured in our taste test are just as good.
