Home Depot converter poses fire hazard

Home Depot has recalled a commercial electric 15-amp triplex outlet converter with model number LA-05 and UPC 818897010121.

The converters, which were sold for $5 exclusively at Home Depot stores and online at HomeDepot.com, allow you to get three lines into a single electrical outlet.

The big-box home improvement store sold some 42,000 units from February 2017 through July 2017.

One consumer reported being shocked by the converter. The Consumer Product Safety Commission believes the devices may also pose a fire hazard, hence the recall.

To check if your converter is involved in this recall, look for the model number LA-O5 on the molding near where the prongs are located.

Meanwhile, you can find the UPC number printed on a sticker on the top of the converter along with the UL listing. Look for UPC 818897010121.

If you determine you have the converter, stop using it immediately and contact Home Depot at 877-527-0313 or in store for a full refund.
