On November 18, Honda announced the recall of 900,000 Odyssey minivans following dozens of injury reports related to a problem that causes second-row seats to tip forward.
The recall includes vehicle model years from 2011 to 2017.
Of the affected Honda minivans, 800,000 were sold in the United States.
The automaker said it received 46 reports of minor injuries linked to the vehicle issue, in which the second-row seats fall forward if they are not properly latched.
“If a second row seat is not properly latched after adjusting it side-to-side or reinstalling a removed seat,” the company notes in a press release, “the seat may tip forward during moderate to heavy braking, increasing the risk of injury to an occupant.”
While a free repair is in the works, Honda has posted a lengthy explanation of how owners can properly latch the second row seats themselves until finalized repair plans are announced.
If you have an affected vehicle, you’ll get a notification in the mail beginning in late December. Until that time, you can visit Recalls.Honda.com or call (888) 234-2138 to determine if your vehicle needs to be repaired.
