Spring is in the air, if you’re a price-conscious traveler, thanks to a new report that rounds up the cheapest American cities for a spring break getaway.

The study comes from travel site Expedia in coordination with its Spring Savings event, which promises price cuts of up to 40% off on hotels, flights, packages and activities.

The rankings are based on the site’s flight demand between March 1 – April 30, 2020 vs. the same period last year. Let’s check out the list:

Here Are the Cheapest Places to Travel for Spring 2020

  1. Charlotte, North Carolina$314

The site also gives some insight on the best time to book airfare for your spring getaway. The biggest savings, they say, can be had by those who book 21 to 30 days ahead of their trip.

According to Expedia data, here’s why that time frame is key:

  • You can save over 25% on your travel vs. booking last minute
  • You can also save over 20% more than those who book  90+ days out

Spring 2020: Which Month Is Cheapest to Travel?

The cheapest month to travel is May, according to an analysis of Expedia data from 2019. The site says the least expensive weeks to travel during the spring are:

  • Second week of March
  • Third week of May
  • Third week of April

If you’re serious about a spring trip, this information should help you travel for less. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to book between February 24 and March 1 to take advantage of the savings on the site.
