Have you received a call on your smartphone from “Scam Likely” lately? Here’s what’s going on…

In 2017, T-Mobile rolled out two free phone scam protections to its customers to prevent robocalls. The features were later extended to users of its prepaid brand, MetroPCS.

T-Mobile, MetroPCS roll out ‘Scam Likely’ feature

The first tool is called Scam ID. When an incoming call is identified as a possible scam, your phone will display a “Scam Likely” alert along with the phone number. Users can then decide whether to accept or decline the call.

If you activate the second feature, Scam Block, all calls from known scammers are blocked and will never reach your phone.

“Scam ID and Scam Block are perfect examples of what the T-Mobile and MetroPCS are all about — we give you more without asking more from you,” said Mike Sievert, Chief Operating Officer for T-Mobile. “These advanced protection technologies put our customers in control, and even better, they are totally free! It’s a good day to be a MetroPCS customer — and a bad day to be a scammer!”

Scam ID is automatically enabled on T-Mobile and MetroPCS phones. To turn on Scam Block, dial #ONB# (#662#) or dial #OFB# (#632#) to turn it off.
