How to turn off Amazon’s personalized ads

If you don’t want targeted Amazon ads (also called personalized ads) following you online, start by opening a browser and going to amazon.com/adprefs.

After logging in, select “Do Not Personalize Ads from Amazon for this Internet Browser” and click submit.

According to the e-commerce giant, you’ll need to repeat this process on other browsers that you use for Amazon shopping in order to stop personalized ads, which doesn’t mean all ads.

Here’s how Amazon explains it:

Note that even if you choose not to see personalized ads above, you may see personalized product recommendations and other similar features on Amazon.com and its affiliated sites. You may also see ads provided by Amazon.com on other websites; they just won’t be personalized.

By navigating to amazon.com/gp/history, Amazon makes it easy for you to view and edit your browsing history, removing all of the items you’ve searched for or only a few.

You can also turn browsing history off to keep your entire browsing history hidden.

Amazon is far from the only company doing this! You need to update your privacy settings if you don’t want Facebook’s ads stalking you. Here’s a step-by-step guide.
