Are you considering cutting the cord but are worried that you won’t be able to get your local channels?
Peacock is taking steps that could ease that worry.
The popular video streaming service, which is owned by NBCUniversal, recently announced that it will be providing 24-hour-per-day livestreaming of its local NBC affiliates to select subscribers. Access began on November 30, 2022.
Let’s take a closer look to see if your Peacock subscription qualifies and if your local NBC affiliate is included.
Peacock has made more than 200 local NBC affiliates available to stream. But there’s a catch.
You must subscribe to Peacock’s Premium Plus, which is the $9.95 per month subscription, to gain access. You can save a little cash by opting for the annual subscription at $99 per year.
“Our Affiliates have always been terrific partners as our industry evolves to meet our consumers’ expectations and viewing habits,” Philip Martzolf, President, NBC Affiliate Relations, said in a news release. “This is an exciting new offering that expands our best-in-class broadcast and local programming to new audiences.”
The livestream comes in addition to all of the other benefits of Peacock membership, which include live sports, on-demand movies and the libraries of hit shows like The Office and Yellowstone. At the Premier Plus subscription tier, you get the on-demand content with no commercials and also download content for offline viewing.

Will your local NBC affiliate be available on Peacock Premium Plus? Probably.
Peacock announced that more than 200 markets will have access to their local NBC stations via the streaming service.

This news probably isn’t enough to get most people to upgrade their Peacock subscriptions, but it’s a really nice perk for those who already enjoy Premium Plus.
For rural cord cutters who live in areas that make it hard to access local channels via antenna, this could be a relatively cheap option to gain access to your local NBC affiliate.
And if you pair it with a Paramount+ subscription, which offers similar access to local CBS affiliates with select subscriptions, you could have multiple livestreams of local channels without paying for a live TV streaming service.
