Online employment site FlexJobs culled through remote job listings for 51,000+ companies to determin which companies had the highest volume of hiring around “Work-from-Anywhere” remote jobs with no location restrictions in 2018.
That last part about “no location restrictions” is an important distinction that often goes unmentioned in the larger discussion about work-from-home jobs.
Turn out it’s a little-known fact that the lion’s share of remote positions will only hire you if you maintain a steady location, often a state out of which the company bases its operations.
“About 95% of remote jobs require candidates to be based in a certain location like a state or country even, though they’ll be able to work from their homes,” FlexJobs notes.
Yet there’s a different breed of remote work that won’t tie you down as much to one place.
“Up to 10% of those location-specific positions can be done from anywhere in the U.S.,” FlexJobs adds, “while the remaining 5% of remote jobs can be performed from anywhere in the world.”
