If you own a 2011 or 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango, you might need to bring it in for repair — a second time.
In July 2014, Fiat Chrysler issued a recall to owners of 895,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from 2011-2014, in response to a fire hazard in the wiring harness for the vanity mirror light. Unfortunately, many vehicles were brought back in for service, as it appeared the first fix did not resolve the issue.
This time, the company is issuing a second recall for nearly 389,000 of those vehicles, saying that dealers could have threaded the wires incorrectly during the initial repair, leading to short circuiting and fires.

The new fix includes taping over the edges of the bare metal and only applies to vehicles built after September 1, 2012.
In addition, almost 100,000 Jeep Compass and Patriot SUVs are being recalled due to a misplaced clamp. This issue may have caused power steering fluid leaks leading to fire hazards.
The good news: Fiat-Chrysler USA said it was not aware of any injuries or accidents related to these recalls.
