According to the Independent, lights will be dimmed and in-store music will be turned down for an hour on November 6 at locations in the United Kingdom. There will also be a quiet zone for any children that may need a break.

Noises and bright lights can make children with autism anxious, according to Autism Speaks.

Given the positive response to the event in the UK, Clark.com reached out to Toys R Us to see if we should expect something similar in the U.S.

Here’s the response we got from Candace Disler, a company spokeswoman:

We’re working on a plan to test these types of opportunities on a local level – pairing our stores with local organizations to create an event for kids with special needs and their families, and will also assess opportunities to scale it nationally.

In other words, stay tuned for more details! There’s nothing final yet.

Autism Speaks told CBS News that it’s not aware of any other U.S. retailers with a similar program, but it would be happy to work with Toys R Us.
