Target is expanding its new loyalty program after a successful test run in six markets. Target Circle is set to roll out nationwide on October 6, the retailer says.
The loyalty program is stacked with perks to get people to join just in time for the holidays and Black Friday. Some benefits include personalized deals, birthday rewards, early access to special promotions and more.
The program also has a giving aspect: Simply by shopping, customers can earn votes to direct Target’s philanthropic efforts to charities. Company execs say Target Circle came about from listening to customers.
“We worked directly with guests to develop Target Circle, and the program includes the benefits and perks that they told us were most important to them, from earning on every Target trip to having the opportunity to help Target make a positive impact within their local communities,” Rick Gomez, Target executive vice president, said in a news release.

It costs nothing to join Target Circle and there won’t be any subsequent fees. If you already have the Cartwheel app or a Target REDcard, you’ve been automatically enrolled.
Additionally, you don’t have to have a Target credit card to join.
To join Target Circle, go to Target.com and register for an account, get approved for a REDcard or give your phone number to the cashier starting October 6.
With Target Circle, every time you visit a store, you can earn 1% back on a future purchase, the retailer says. This means that if Target is one of your favorite places, those in-store visits can really pay off.
Additionally, REDcard holders will continue to save 5% on card purchases instead of 1%.
Each time your birthday rolls around, Target promises to have a special reward for you. That puts them in good company.
Customers familiar with the store’s Cartwheel deals will be happy to know that Target Circle will include all of those special promotions as well. Those discounts and more will be rolled into “Target Circle offers.”
