Think a bigger pizza is always a better value?
Before you place your next delivery order, check out this handy calculator we found that reveals the cost per square inch — this tool could save you some serious dough!
Team Clark compared prices for 12-inch medium and 14-inch large pizzas at three national chains: Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s.
Read on to find out which pizza place offers the best bite for your buck…
The bigger pizza at Domino’s has a lower cost per square inch when you compare a regular-priced large pizza for $12.49 to a regular-priced medium for $9.99.
But its long-running special of two medium two-topping pizzas for $5.99 each changes everything.
Square inches | Cost per sq. inch | Total
2 medium pizzas | 226.19 | $0.05 (Lowest) | $11.98 |
1 large pizza | 153.94 | $0.08 | $12.49 |
Pizza Hut also offers two medium pizzas for $5.99 each, but how does that compare to its special $7.99 large three-topping pizza deal?
The calculator shows the large pie has the lowest cost per square inch, but it’s pretty much a tie!
We checked Papa John’s specials and found a $10 large two-topping pizza deal for carry-out that costs only $0.06 per square inch.
But for $12, you can get a two medium one-topping pizza special for $0.05 per square inch.
Square inches | Cost per sq. inch | Total
2 medium pizzas | 226.19 | $0.05 (Lowest) | $12.00 |
1 large pizza | 153.94 | $0.06 | $10.00 |
Remember that prices and deals may vary, but this calculator is a great tool to help you figure out if those pizza specials are really worth it.
And we know that many people prefer to eat at locally-owned restaurants, so you can just as easily compare mom-and-pop pizza places using the calculator.
