McDonald’s worker: ‘I’ve had enough!’

One McDonald’s employee is sharing exactly what it’s like to work for the fast food giant — and his message has gone viral.

Mike Waite lives in the United Kingdom — works at McDonald’s — and says he’s sick and tired of condescending comments about his job.

What this McDonald’s worker wants every customer to know

1. Enough with the judging already

Waite starts his post by venting that he’s fed up with people who talk down to him for working full-time at the restaurant.

‘Let me be clear. YES I work at McDonald’s and do it nearly 50 hours a week. Why? Not because I have no aspiration, motivation or intelligence…but for the opposite…because in a few months’ time like a great number of people I work with I will be going back into higher education,’ Waite wrote.

He said the job can be very tough and the wages are low, but employees work hard for their families.

2. His co-workers are like a second family

Waite said his co-workers at McDonald’s are students, parents or just people trying to save enough to reach their goals.

‘I work with people I would aspire to be like, who have strengths in areas I wish I had, who have overcome situations I never could and who have the determination to not fade away on handouts but rather step up and work for their living unlike a huge number of people in this country,’ Waite said.

3. This is not a ‘dead-end job’

Waite defended criticism that there is no way up for people at McDonald’s. In fact, he said he hopes to one day become a manager.

‘The one thing McDonalds is is a job which is extremely (extremely) flexible, has opportunities for growth and can allow you to do what you want to do,’ Waite emphasized.

It’s not a dead-end, he said, but ‘part of the beginning.’

Waite’s heartfelt Facebook post has received more than 50,000 likes and 9,000 shares, and he said he is overwhelmed by all of the attention.

His personal Facebook cover now reads, “Don’t wish for it. Work for it.”
