If you’ve been following money expert Clark Howard for a while, you know that he loves shopping at Aldi!
Known for its super low prices, the German grocery store is expanding its footprint in the United States and plans to become the nation’s third largest grocery store by count, behind Walmart and Kroger.
Aldi has just announced a $3.4 billion capital investment to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.

“We pioneered a grocery model built around value, convenience, quality and selection and now Aldi is one of America’s favorite and fastest growing retailers,” said CEO Jason Hart. “We’re growing at a time when other retailers are struggling. We are giving our customers what they want, which is more organic produce, antibiotic-free meats and fresh healthier options across the store, all at unmatched prices up to 50 percent lower than traditional grocery stores.”
Aldi already operates more than 1,600 stores in 35 states, serving 40 million customers every month.
As Aldi opens up around 900 new stores, it’s bringing new jobs to communities across the country. The company plans to add 25,000 additional jobs in stores, warehouses and offices.
Meanwhile, Aldi is spending $1.6 billion to remodel 1,300 existing locations by 2020. Updated stores will have a modern design with open ceilings and natural lighting.
