According to FoodBeast.com, Costco is testing a 1/3-pound cheeseburger for $4.99 at select food courts in Seattle and Southern California.
The cheeseburger is said to consist of an organic beef patty served on a challah bun with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar and smoked Thousand Island dressing.
A reporter for The Seattle Times who sampled one of these mammoth cheeseburgers said it was “good for the price range.”
But, alas, it’s no comparison to the warehouse club’s famed $1.50 frankfurter — which comes with a refillable 20-ounce soda.
“The burger…lacked the burst of flavors (salty, sour and sweet) and the juiciness of the Costco hot dog with condiments,” the reviewer noted.
No word yet from Costco about a full national roll-out of the cheeseburger. But if you happen to be in the area, you can look for it at these locations:
In addition, food court employees tell The Seattle Times that the burger may be tested shortly in other Washington state locations like Issaquah, Kirkland and Lynnwood.
Keep your eyes open!
