According to an announcement on its website, the fast-food chain introduced a new smokehouse barbecue sauce in July, which never really caught on.
“Change isn’t always easy. In fact, sometimes it can be downright difficult,” Chick-fil-A said in a news release.
In addition to strong social media reaction, there was even an online petition to bring back the original barbecue sauce, which got thousands of supporters.
“After reading and rereading your messages aloud and on camera, we decided to change it back,” the company said. “Beginning mid-November, the original Barbeque Sauce will return to the Chick-fil-A menu at restaurants nationwide to replace Smokehouse Barbeque Sauce.”
In a video posted to YouTube to break the news, Chick-fil-A team members read some of the negative comments they’ve received over the past few months.
But now, people are using the hashtag #BroughtBacktheBBQ to celebrate the return of the original barbecue sauce.
This isn’t the first menu change that hasn’t been well-received at Chick-fil-A. The chain was also criticized after removing its spicy chicken biscuit, coleslaw and carrot and raisin salad.
