Amazon is making a huge change to its Prime offering: Get ready for free one-day shipping as the new standard on all Prime orders!
Chief Financial Officer Brian Olsavsky made the announcement during a recent earnings call.
“This is all about the core free Two-Day offer morphing into – or evolving into a free One-Day offer,” Olsavsky said. “We’ve already started down this path. We’ve in the past months significantly expanded our one-day eligible selection and also expanded the number of zip codes eligible for one-day shipping.”
“We really think it’s going to be groundbreaking for Prime customers.”
Amazon currently offers a variety of delivery options, including one day, same day, two hour and one hour for some purchases. But this latest move is about making one-day delivery the standard first in the U.S., and then eventually globally for Prime customers.
Olsavsky notes that one-day shipping broadened to more products in the first quarter. Certain zip codes are already receiving broader access to free one-day shipping.
There’s no firm date yet for when the one-day shipping program will be available to all U.S. customers, but now we know it’s coming!
