When you think of award-winning spirits, you probably don’t think of Aldi. But maybe you should!
Despite its budget reputation, the German grocer was just honored with a couple of prestigious awards that are the envy of other distiller the world over.

Aldi’s Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin won a silver medal at the prestigious International Spirits Challenge 2017, beating out competitors that cost nearly six times as much!
The gin, which is sold in England for roughly $12.55, bested competing spirits from well-respected names like Tanqueray, Hendrick’s and Beefeater.
One of the competing Beefeater gins in particular — Burrough’s Reserve Gin 70cl — sells for the equivalent of nearly $80 a bottle in Britain.
Meanwhile, Aldi’s upscale gin offering Topaz Premium Gin also took home a silver medal as well. Topaz sells for the equivalent of about $17.50 a bottle.
Closer to home, a couple of Aldi products that are available in your local store won “Product of the Year” plaudits in a survey of shoppers conducted by global research agency Kantar TNS.
Aldi’s Broken Clouds Pinot Noir and SimplyNature Organic White Cheddar Puffs claimed victories in the wine and salty snacks categories.
