Whether you pronounce it Target or TarJay, one thing is clear — people love this upscale discount retailer!
With 1,807 stores, Target is a go-to store for a lot of middle class families around the country.
And now, there are some big changes coming to make shopping beneath the bull’s-eye even easier!

If you love shopping at Target, you’re going to love these new developments…
In an effort to better compete with Amazon, Target will begin testing next-day home delivery in the Minneapolis area.
Named “Target Restock,” this beta test service will allow REDcard holders to go online and order household essentials including laundry detergent, paper towels, coffee and 8,000 other items.
Orders will be packed up at a nearby store and delivered straight to customers’ homes the next day for a flat fee.
If this service proves successful in Minneapolis, it’s likely to be expanded to other markets too!
Target is in the process of re-imagining its stores for a new generation of shoppers.
The new design will feature a separate entrance and 10-minute parking for those who just need to run in to pick up an online order or grab necessities.
In addition, the center aisles will be curved — instead of the traditional square shape — to help shoppers better explore the store.
Other upcoming changes to look for include new LED lighting and brand boutiques (aka the “store-within-a-store” concept) to give the big-box store an upscale specialty feel.
The first stores with the new look will open outside Houston this fall. Following that, 40 more stores will get the update in October.
Look for more than 600 locations to be updated over the course of the next three years.

Target is also planning to open hundreds of smaller flex-format stores over the next few years that are less than 50,000 square feet each. (By comparison, Super Targets are approximately 175,000 square feet.)
The smaller stores will allow the company to move into downtown locations more easily.
Target had 32 small format locations at the end of 2016. This year, they’re planning to add at least another 16. And by the end of 2019, the plan is to have more than 130 up and running.
Another benefit of small stores is that they help leverage the Target brand in the digital space. They offer convenient locations for people to buy online and then pick up the same day at a physical location.
Got any gamers in your life? Maybe you count yourself as one!
Whatever the case may be, Target is working with Nintendo to put “Super Target Karts” featuring Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach into more than 650 stores across the country.
Be on the lookout for these eye-catching carts at a store near you. They’re meant to celebrate the arrival of the newest title in the Super Mario Bros. gaming franchise — Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch.
The Red Retailer is poised for a big move into team sports in 2017.
Target has struck a multi-year deal with Major League Soccer. Look for the company to snag airtime during MLS broadcasts on Univision, FOX Sports and ESPN, as well as opportunities for in-stadium experiences, the rights to player appearances and ownership of certain major MLS platforms.
Meanwhile, you’ll see the store’s bull’s-eye logo of the jerseys of hometown soccer club Minnesota United FC.
