It’s no secret Clark is a huge fan of Dollar Tree — and dollar stores in general. He’s long said he’s willing to accept lower quality for a lower price.

But lower price doesn’t have to mean lower quality. With a little creativity, the seasonal section at your favorite dollar store can be a cornucopia of Halloween and Thanksgiving design ideas!

Why pay more when you can create something amazing for a fraction of the price?

How to have a fun Halloween on a budget

The creative moms over at Hip2Save show that it’s easy to make anything look fancier than it really is. Here’s how they took the classic plastic pumpkin and turned it into a gilded treasure.

Before

After

Using a simple can of spray paint, they coated these dollar store pumpkins and made them look fabulous for the holiday.

Just be sure to do this in a well-ventilated area of your home!

‘I recently picked up some dollar store pumpkins, leaf garlands and two of those pumpkin candy pails from the thrift store for 69¢ each,’ Lina of Hip2Save wrote in her step-by-step guide. ‘My strategy was to spray paint all the items the same color for a more uniform and stylish look, and I’m LOVING the results!’

Don’t forget about Thanksgiving too!

Not really into the gold thing? Try this instead for a unique pumpkin decoration that can last all the way through Thanksgiving!

Diana over at HomeTalk.com has a step-by-step guide detailing how to make some amazing concrete pumpkins with the same old dollar store plastic pumpkins.

The upshot of it is you mix a little peat moss, perlite and concrete. Then pour the resulting mixture into a pumpkin as a mold.

The results are stunning:

As Diana notes, you can use the jack o’ lantern face for Halloween and then turn it around on your door step for Thanksgiving!
