Are you getting bombarded with robocalls? YouMail, a free service to stop robocalls, scammers and telemarketers, reports that 4.1 billion robocalls were placed nationwide in June 2018.
Think about it this way: YouMail says that’s equal to 12.7 calls for every person affected!
RELATED: Do not answer calls or texts from these area codes
According to the Federal Communications Commission, around 60% of all the complaints it receives are related to unwanted calls, with over 200,000 complaints each year.
It’s so bad that money expert Clark Howard says you shouldn’t answer calls from unknown numbers — just let them go to voicemail!
Some area codes are targeted by robocalls more often than others. Here are the 20 area codes that YouMail says were most affected by robocalls in June 2018.
YouMail also lists the actual phone numbers of the worst robocallers, including 800-955-6600, 800-266-2278, 877-647-8552, 888-222-4227 and 347-394-2956.
From its website, YouMail’s reverse phone lookup lets you search and report phone numbers that keep bugging you.
Free tools from YouMail and Hiya can help you block some of the robocalls. Your wireless provider may also have a free or low-cost app to help you keep the scammers away.
