What comes to mind when you think about a ranch home? Trulia says the ranch style is known for single-floor living, open floor plans and attached garages.
They’re particularly popular with seniors who don’t want to bother with climbing up and down the stairs.
The popularity of ranch homes may be tied to affordability in some markets. Trulia says ranch homes in Atlanta have a median list price of $92 per square foot, about half of the citywide median listing price of $180 per square foot.
Trulia says between April and June, U.S. home inventory fell 8.9% nationwide year-over-year.
Inventory today is 20% lower than it was five years ago with the current number of starter and trade-up homes on the market decreasing 15.6% and 13.1% respectively, during the past year, Trulia found.
Amid falling inventory, fewer homes are staying on the market for more than two months.
