McCain Foods USA Inc. has recalled frozen hash brown products that may be contaminated with “extraneous golf ball materials”!

“Despite our stringent supply standards [golf balls] may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make this product. Consumption of these products may pose a choking hazard or other physical injury to the mouth,” the company notes in the recall notice.

Look for a production code date of B170119 on the package.
It goes without saying, but if you have any of these products in your freezer, do not eat them! Return them to the store for a refund or throw them away.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported stemming from this bizarre recall.
Marianos, Metro Market, and Pick ”˜n Save supermarkets in Illinois and Wisconsin carried the Roundy’s product.
The Harris Teeter product, meanwhile, was more widely distributed in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia and Maryland.
