Ice cream recalled in 25 states over risk of allergic reactions

If you have a container of Turkey Hill ice cream in your freezer, you may want to check to see if it’s part of a recall that was just announced.

Recall alert: Check your freezer for this ice cream!

According to the company’s website, select 48 ounce containers of Turkey Hill’s Dutch Chocolate Premium Ice Cream are being recalled because they may contain Rocky Road Premium Ice Cream instead.

The packages may include undeclared ingredients of almonds and eggs, which could be harmful to people with food sensitivities or allergies. There have been no reports of any illnesses linked to this recall.

UPC code: 20735-42095 
Sell-by date: May 23, 2017 (Found printed on the bottom of the package)

The recalled ice cream was sold after September 8 at select stores in these 25 states:

  4. Massachusetts
  5. Connecticut
  6. Delaware
  7. Maryland
  8. Virginia
  9. West Virginia
  10. Ohio
  11. Rhode Island
  12. Maine
  13. Vermont

  15. Alabama
  16. New Hampshire
  17. North Carolina
  18. South Carolina
  19. Georgia
  20. Michigan
  21. Indiana
  22. Kentucky
  23. Mississippi
  24. Illinois
  25. Tennessee

If you purchased the mislabeled product, you can return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund or contact Turkey Hill at 1-800-MY-DAIRY. 

Turkey Hill has apologized for the error, saying that customers “expect and deserve more from our brand.”
