Stressed out? Listen to this!

Research by Mindlab International found that listening to the song “Weightless” by Marconi Union produced the greatest sense of relaxation compared to any other music tested by neuroscientists.

According to the report in Inc. magazine, the song was arranged in collaboration with sound therapists in order to reduce the listener’s heart rate, lower their blood pressure and reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone.

Listen to the song below and see if it helps you unwind:

If you don’t care for “Weightless,” you may prefer to listen to some of the other songs that were highlighted by the researchers, including hits from Adele and Coldplay.

1. ‘Weightless,’ by Marconi Union

2. ‘Electra,’ by Airstream

3. ‘Mellomaniac (Chill Out Mix),’ by DJ Shah

4. ‘Watermark,’ by Enya

5. ‘Strawberry Swing,’ by Coldplay

6. ‘Please Don’t Go,’ by Barcelona

7. ‘Pure Shores,’ by All Saints

8. ‘Someone Like You,’ by Adele

9. ‘Canzonetta Sull’aria,’ by Mozart

10. ‘We Can Fly,’ by Rue du Soleil (Café Del Mar)

Managing chronic stress and anxiety is so crucial because it can contribute to other health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.

Listening to music is one of the coping mechanisms for stress recommended by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. The group also suggests eating well-balanced meals, daily exercise, adequate sleep, deep breathing and positive thinking.
