The grocer said the popular bakery item was sold at Publix bakery departments in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida. However, the recall does not effect the following counties in Florida: St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Okeechobee, Monroe, Martin, Miami-Dade and Broward.
An earlier report from the FDA listed the product as Apple Coffee Cake and gave the following UPC number: 002-19562-00000.
‘As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director.
There have been no reported cases of illness and customers who purchased the product may return it for a full refund.
